Insurance Disputes & Bad Faith

When your insurer won’t pay, we fight back

How Lightview Handles Insurance Disputes

Insurance companies have teams of adjusters and lawyers working to minimize what they pay. We level the playing field. Our attorneys have handled disability, property, life, and business interruption disputes against major carriers.

Because our firm also handles personal injury, workers' comp, and employment claims, we often catch insurance issues that single-practice firms miss. A denied workers' comp benefit might also be insurance bad faith. A personal injury settlement might be undercut by your own insurer's subrogation claim. We see the full picture.

Common Questions

My insurance company denied my claim. What can I do?

Review the denial letter carefully. You have the right to appeal with additional documentation. If the appeal fails and you believe the denial was unreasonable, we evaluate whether you have a bad faith claim. Many denials are overturned.

What's the difference between a coverage dispute and bad faith?

A coverage dispute is a disagreement about whether the policy covers the claim. Bad faith is when the insurer knew they had no reasonable basis to deny but did so anyway. Bad faith requires dishonesty or recklessness — and it opens the door to emotional distress and punitive damages.

Can I recover more than just my policy benefits?

Yes. If we prove bad faith, you can recover the full benefits owed, interest, penalties, emotional distress damages, and in egregious cases, punitive damages. The recovery can far exceed the original claim.
